Double Hung

The Double Hung Window is a window that opens from both the bottom and the top of the unit. In terms of how warm these units are, they would be rated towards the bottom end compared to the other styles. However, in terms of prices, they are in a group of the least expensive compared to the other windows.
There are two very useful options for the Double Hung window. The first is the Tilt option, which allows each section of the unit to hinge itself and tilt into the house, making it very easy for cleaning. The second option is the Lift option, which allows each section of the unit to lift out of the frame for easy cleaning. While both options are very handy, we recommend the Tilt option, as it provides the same end result of easy-to-clean windows and yet does not necessitate the possibility of heavy or awkward lifting that can comes with the Lift option.

Single Hung

Very similar to the Double Hung style, the Single Hung unit is comprised of two sections: the bottom section lifts to open but unlike with the Double Hung style the top section is fixed in place and does not open. This window is also considered to be in the least-warm and least expensive group of our windows.

Bay

A Bay Window is comprised of 3 sections, with the 2 side sections usually being angled at 30° or 45°.

Bow

A Bow Window has a similar design to the Bay Window, except that instead of 3 units at 30° or 45°, the Bay is comprised of 4-7 sections at much smaller degree angles. Due to the larger amount of units involved, and the fact that they are angled at smaller degrees, the Bow has a smoother shape to it than the Bay and closely resembles a half-moon.

Double Slider

The Double Slider Window is a unit that opens from side to side. The Double Slider is comprised of two sections which both open by sliding in towards the middle of the unit.  In terms of the warmth of this style of window, the Double Slider would be in the group that is the least warm and the least expensive.

Single Slider

The Single Slider Window is a unit that opens form side to side. Like the Double Slider, the Single Slider is comprised of 2 sections, however, only one section of the window will open. The section that opens does so by sliding towards the middle of the unit. In terms of the warmth of this style of window, the Single Slider is considered to be in the group of the least warm and least expensive.

3-Lite Slider (also End Vent)

The 3-Lite Slider is a unique window that is comprised of 3 sections which are not angled, so as to not be confused with a Bay window. The two side sections open by sliding towards the middle section, which is fixed in the frame and does not open. With respect to the warmth of this window, it is considered in the least warm group and also the least expensive.

Casement

The Casement window is comprised of a single pane of glass which opens towards the outside of the house along the vertical axis of the unit. It opens by a hand-crack situated along the bottom of the unit and is manufactured with an easy-to-remove screen that makes the glass easy to clean. In terms of the warmth of this unit, the Casement window is considered to be in the middle group, closer to the warmest group.

Awning

The Awning window is comprised of a single pane of glass which opens towards the outside of the house along its horizontal axis, more often than not hinged along the top and opening at the bottom. The unit opens by a hand-crank situated along the bottom of the unit.

Picture Window

The Picture window is a window that is fixed in place with a low-profile sash, which means that of the available opening for the window, there will be a larger glassed area than normal. This window is not one that opens.

Fixed Casement

The fixed casement window is very similar to the Picture window, except that the sash holding the window is of a standard size. In comparison, a window opening of the same size would lead to a smaller glassed area in the Fixed Casement than the Picture. This window also does not open.
